one good thing

Ah it's Christmas, the most joyous time of the year. With three days till the big day (this being the day that Jesus was born and a day filled with festivities) it's the time of year that I do a festive post for ya and basically pour my heart out through the medium of words.

Inspired by a hashtag on Twitter by @Ohcomelymag that I saw called #onegoodthing I thought I would do a little Christmas version and do a few one good things about the festive season. There are so many nice things that happen around this time of year and although there is so much sadness and grief in the world there is also one good thing to be grateful for.

One good thing about Christmas are the pigs in blanket. If you're vegan or vegetarian you may not feel quite the same but the food at Christmas is always seemingly better than any other time of the year.

Whether you are 5 or 85, the holiday season is a time to really just enjoy yourself and reflect on all the good things in life so one good thing about Christmas is the chance to be a kid again. Singing or humming carols, spending time with family and friends. It can be a very sad and lonely time for people but there is always one good thing to be happy about - no matter how small.
Choir concerts are definitely one good thing about Christmas. There is nothing more special than listening to beautiful music.

Another great thing about this time of year is the Hot Chocolate. Admittedly, I have this delicious drink all year round but it's a little more special around this season. We did a secret santa among my science friends and the person who had me (shout out to Danni) got me a Hot Chocolate set with marshmallows. It was such a nice idea and I'm saving it for Christmas eve (even though I have already drunk out of the mug).

Decorating the tree is probably one of my favourite parts of Christmas. Whether you have a real one of a fake tree, the sense that Christmas is just around the corner makes decorating the tree one of the best Christmas activities.

Like the Oh Comely tweet above, watching your favourite Christmas move for the millionth time is definitely one good thing about Christmas. My favourites have to be the Holiday, Arthur Christmas and Love Actually - what are yours?
Anyone up for friendmas? I've seen a lot of people talking about friendmas this year but it's such a nice idea. I'm going round one of my best friends later for a Christmas afternoon filled with present giving and movie watching. If I wasn't feeling Christmassy before I definitely will after!
I would love to hear your #onegoodthing about Christmas! Even if it is something incredibly small or generic I would love to know, let me know in the comments! I hope you all have an amazing Christmas and I wish you all the best; may it be filled with family, food and happiness. I'm taking a little break this week so will be back on the 29th talking all things 2016.

Love, Eleanor xx

  5. I'm watching Love Actually at the moment and it is still as good as ever! One good thing would have to be getting together and seeing family you may not have seen since last year- such a lovely thing.
